The leadership team at Southwyck Homes boasts a collective 65 years of experience – deeply rooted within Atlanta’s homebuilding market. Combining their talents, wisdom and individual imaginations to create something entirely uncommon, they are artisans, visionaries and storytellers to their core.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Tad developed an early fondness for the stunning architecture and exquisitely designed gardens found in many of the city’s most established neighborhoods. That love led him to the University of Georgia with a desire to become a landscape architect.
His scope expanded to land development and over the course of a colorful career, he has been involved in park designs, industrial designs and even site development for schools before finding his true calling in residential development. Wishing to stay true to the feel of the traditional “Old Atlanta” community paired with his diverse background means that Tad applies a different approach to residential development.
He pours a great deal of time and imagination into the design and feel of a neighborhood to create an undeniable sense of place, make it a great addition to the surrounding community and have a minimal impact on the environment. Over the course of his career, he has gotten to know virtually “everyone” and enjoys working closely with city officials and his team members to create something extraordinary.
He once served on the task force to rewrite the DeKalb County, GA zoning code. From design to development, he loves being involved in every aspect of the creation of each community right down to each home site. Prior to launching Southwyck Homes with Edward Pease, Tad served as President of TND Development Corporation and Director of Development for Liberty Development Corporation.
He has been responsible for the construction of well over 1000 lots throughout the metroAtlanta area. One of five kids with four of his own, family is of great significance to Tad. He finds considerable rewards in creating homes and neighborhoods for families at every stage of life. In a cookie cutter market, he takes pride in providing a more personalized home.
When he’s not working, giving back to the community and fostering the futures of young leaders are important pursuits. With two sons who are Eagle Scouts and a third who is a Boy Scouts, Tad is deeply involved with Boy Scouts of America. He also serves on the board for Georgia Hills Golf Club and The Council forQuality Growth.
A Memphis native armed with a degree from University of Memphis, Edward Pease’s life journey led him to Atlanta with Landstone, LLC to develop a series of Kroger grocery stores, Lowes, CVS, Walgreens and medical buildings. With more than two decades of experience investing in and developing freestanding retail developments, shopping centers and specialty medical centers, Ed was interested in engaging in something new. His mentor suggested that he leverage his commercial experience to pursue a future in residential development.
Intrigued from a passion and economics standpoint, Ed launched Oak Hall Companies – a real estate development and investment company – with seasoned residential construction veteran, Tad Braswell. That partnership would continue with the creation of Southwyck Homes. Ed not only has a passion and an acumen for building a company, he also finds great gifts in the opportunity to create “cool” homes and communities where people want to live. He finds that residential development is far more personal than commercial development because of the lives he’s touching – everyone from young couples to growing families to empty nesters. He loves the thought of building their “nest” – the place where they will shape a future together.
That passion for people led him into mission work. Along with his wife Patti and their two sons, Ed has a conviction for giving back. As the Director and co-founder of World Missions Partners (WMP), he is proud to serve at the helm of one of the largest continuing mission programs operating in the San Jose, Costa Rica area. WMP provides medical and dental missions, as well as educational funding and various support programs in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. Ed and his family have personally touched the lives of several young people by providing access to education – one of whom is currently in law school and 10 are in dental school in the Dominican Republic. In addition to WMP, Ed has served on the boards of The Young Family YMCA in Atlanta and The Summit Center.
Ed was also was a member of the Johns Creek Citizens Advisory Committee that oversaw the drafting of the2018 Comprehensive Land Use Plan. Today, he continues to serve on the board forChampions Community Foundation, as well as the Georgia Student Finance Commission representing the 6th Congressional District of Georgia..
After “falling backwards” into construction right outside of college, Jon Roby never left. Having gotten his big break with a local custom homebuilder in Columbus, GA, he comes full circle by joining the leadership team at Southwyck Homes.
With more than 50 years in the homebuilding industry, homes designed and constructed by Jon can be found all over Georgia. Having helmed his own new home construction company – Whitehall Homes, his knowledge and experience will prove invaluable to not only the company, but the homebuyers Southwyck serves. Over a 10-year period, he grew Whitehall from 2 to 200 closings annually as word spread of his innovative home designs, quality construction and exceptional customer care.
In addition to Whitehall, Jon’s colorful career includes turns with several noted nation a homebuilding companies, including Pulte Homes. During his nine years as Vice President, Pulte Homes was a consistent leader in the Atlanta homebuilding industry. The highlights of his career to date include a niche development in Country Club of the South, the opportunity to build the 2005 Southern Living Designer House in Atlanta’s Glenwood Park, and a slew of OBIE Awards to his credit.
Jon feels fortunate to have the opportunity to be part of a boutique building company again. He was drawn in by Tad and Ed’s vision of pursuing great locations, delivering functional plans, raising the bar on true design standards and offering tribute elevations that feel like “Old Atlanta.”
